Asian College of Teachers Conducted an Enlightening Webinar on Educational Psychology

12th June 2025

Asian College of Teachers (ACT) successfully conducted an insightful webinar titled “Fundamentals on Educational Psychology” on 24th May 2025, aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of how psychological principles shape teaching and learning. The session was conducted by Dr. Pallavi Kamra, a distinguished life coach and seasoned mental health specialist with over 15 years of expertise in psychology, counselling, and educational development.

Dr. Kamra, who holds a M.Sc. in Psychology, B.Ed. in Psychology, and a PG Diploma in Guidance and Counselling, brought immense value to the session. She is also certified in “Master Your Brain: Neuroscience for Personal Development” and has worked with organizations like WhiteHat Jr, HCL, IIMT Group of Colleges, BYJU'S Future School, and Kendriya Vidyalayas, making her an ideal expert for such a comprehensive topic.

The webinar started with an interesting dialogue on child psychology, discussing how children think, feel, and develop—essential factors that influence their educational process. Dr. Kamra discussed Piaget's and Vygotsky's theories, providing applicable case studies and real-life examples to illustrate the way children learn by repetition and social interaction. She also mentioned Erik Erikson's Initiative vs. Guilt stage (3–5 years of age) and its impact on early childhood development.

The main elements of the session consisted of intensive discussion on cognitive development, wherein Dr. Kamra presented real-life examples in the form of case studies to present how memory and attention work in children and how these factors influence learning. The session also focused on emotional development, highlighting the central role that caregivers and educators play in enabling children to recognize, process, and express their emotions constructively. Social development was also an area of focus, where the role of peer relationships and strategies of managing behaviour were considered. The session also touched on learning difficulties, providing beneficial real-life information relating to conditions like Dyslexia, Autism, and ADHD and enabling teachers to recognize and assist children with such difficulties.

Dr. Kamra had an interactive engagement throughout the session, answering questions in real time and providing explanations to many psychological concepts. The participants enjoyed the webinar and found it very informative, and positive comments poured in towards the end of the session. The session reaffirmed ACT's pledge to empower teachers with research-based knowledge and hands-on skills to facilitate learners in inclusive and diverse educational environments.
