Reimagining Education Post COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the schooling of millions of children and has painted a grim picture of the educational mayhem across the globe. But amidst this disruption, of course, there is a ray of hope and technology has been playing a major role in reigniting this hope. We have come to terms with remote learning besides remote working and educators around the globe have demonstrated resilience and have walked that extra mile to leave the comfort zone of traditional classrooms and entering the world of online instruction. The changing role of teacher has come to the fore – strong and clear. In the past few months the teachers have been innovators setting up their online classrooms and engaging their learners while upgrading their own digital skills. They have been compelled to reflect on teaching strategies aligning with online pedagogy. There has been an urgent need to equip educators all over to prepare them as they face new classrooms dictated by technology. Technology has become a formidable tool to reimagine and reinvent education readying both the teachers and the students for the extraordinary circumstances. For educators it is not only about delivering instructions via online platforms but building effective relationships with the students. Getting grips with technology is the call of the hour and to tailor learning to enhance great teaching by using rich resources and methods for interactive teacher - student sessions. There is still a long way to go and education stakeholders and policy makers must also provide continuous learning opportunities to teachers as well for a sustainable education system.
