Impressing TEFL Recruiters in China is not an Easy Task

30th October 2019

China as a country is the biggest absorber of Indian teachers. For most Chinese employers, it does not matter what the candidate is speaking; what matters is how well they are speaking. For seeking job opportunities abroad, a clear and neutral accent is the most important as well as the most crucial factor; the one that is without a mother tongue influence or a regional accent. Here, communication is the key behind cracking any international job interview.

Although natives are given preference, maintaining a presentable personality would help non-natives land jobs that they had been eyeing for. Flexibility and adaptability to change are two more things which are given more importance than the more conventional traits like experience or qualification. A closed mind with a very stringent approach towards job culture in the field of EFL teaching does not help. Candidates who lack the right amount of flexibility towards learning and accepting the new processes, find it really difficult to impress recruiters and find employment in the long run. Hence candidates need to bend or mend their ways to impress the Chinese recruiters!
